FMBA Local 2 Endorses Sonia Deliz & Paula Alford in 2026 Council-at-Large election.

To our Paterson Community and Residents,

Over the past several months, the Paterson Fire Association/FMBA Local #2 has had the privilege of hosting a dedicated group of candidates for the 2026 elections. We welcomed Mayoral candidates Alex Mendez, Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman, and Michael Jackson, as well as Council-at-Large candidates Mosleh Uddin, Gilman Choudhury, Sonia Deliz, Mitch Santiago, Casey Melvin, Eddie Gonzalez, Dave Gilmore, Eddie Olivares, and Paula Alford. We also met with the incumbent Council President, Lilisa Mimms, and the Council Vice President, Maritza Davila.

Each candidate spoke with conviction regarding the vital role the Paterson Fire Department plays in our community. They recognized the professionalism and sacrifice our firefighters and EMTs demonstrate daily and offered bold ideas to move our city forward in a positive, fiscally responsible direction. Most importantly, they listened to our members' concerns.

We sincerely thank every candidate for engaging in this meaningful dialogue. After careful consideration, the Paterson Fire Association is proud to officially endorse Sonia Deliz and Paula Alford for the 2026 Council-at-Large seats.

Sonia and Paula have demonstrated a deep understanding of the issues facing our city, an unwavering commitment to public safety, and a true appreciation for our first responders. We are confident they will be fierce advocates for the residents of Paterson and steadfast supporters of the men and women who serve this city.

Please note that we are still deliberating on the third Council-at-Large seat and the Mayoral candidates. The Paterson Fire Association is proud to stand with Sonia and Paula.
